Southwest Wyoming Recreation

The Green River area is paradise for anyone who appreciates the outdoors.

Fishing

Imagine pulling up a massive lake trout from the depths of the Flaming Gorge, or fly casting a record-breaking brown from the banks of the Green River. The fishing in Southwest Wyoming is awesome!

Hiking and Mountain Biking

Whether you enjoy a casual morning walk along the many Green River greenbelt trails, or a hard-core desert ride in seach of wild horses and wildlife, Sweetwater County's easily accessed public lands offer endless opportunities for adventure.

Boating and Watersports

Canoe and kayak through the dramatic red-cliff canyons of the Green River, take on the rapids in Green River's Whitewater Park or and spend a sunny summer day jet-skiing on the Flaming Gorge reservoir. There are plenty of places to cool off from the Wyoming summer sun.

Snowmobiling

Snowmobiles allow access to remote, untracked areas and a unique way to experience Wyoming's backcountry. There are also some 1,300 miles of groomed snowmobile trails throughout the state.

Wildlife Viewing

It doesn't take much to spot wildlife in our area - just keep your eyes open for herds of Pronghorn antelope and wild horses, or a giant trophy bull elk. For birdwatching, visit the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge for more that 170 species.
